In this workshop, we explore how and why to coach youth through their emotions. Referred to as “emotion management” in Preparing Youth to Thrive, this skill is defined as “abilities to be aware of and constructively handle both positive and challenging emotions.” Emotions are integral to all parts of life. Research shows that emotion management skills also support young people’s cognitive and social development. Research shows differentiating and understanding emotions helps people handle their emotions better.
